I purchased the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 11-Inch Square Grill Pan a month ago. It is better then I expected. The anodized surface is smooth and nonstick. Unlike Teflon which is easily scratched, this coating feels rigid and build to last.
I dont know how they do it, as its all metal parts (pan, connectors and handle), but even when the pan is very hot, the handle remains cool and easy to grab.
Unlike some other grill pans, the ridges in this pan are smooth and rounded, and not sharp. So when I put some oil in this pan, it easily spreads across. Yet the ridges are not too low, so when I grill meat, it remains dry as the emitted fluids have sufficient gaps to flow into.
Usually soap and water is sufficient to keep it clean after some grilling. But be careful if you plan to use stronger cleaning agents, my wife used a Cold Action Grease And Oil Remover and the color faded from some parts of pan.
All in all its a good grill pan, and I recommend it.

I had the regular version of the Calphalon grill pan but had grown tired of the laborious process of cleaning it after each use so switched to the nonstick version. I have to say I can't see any difference between the two. Both do a fine job in terms of even heating and nice creation of grill marks, but they also are both equally difficult to clean afterwards. And this applies across using them each with a variety of foods at a variety of temperatures. I see no need to spend the extra money on the non-stick version.

Big square pan, gives hot spot in center but you can work that to your advantage by using it to cook stuff that needs more heat in the middle, grids give pretty look, keep it out of the grease a little better. Still not into the idea of eating the non-stick coating chemicals with my food but overall its a great pan. Looks kind of goofy on the burner unless situated North, West, East or South but who really cares it's my kitchen. That also is a situation in the dishwasher due to the handle but it isn't a real crisis. Interesting that Pampered Chef makes a huge bacon press that is square that helps you cook square on square. Maybe the round people got it wrong.

This didn't do it for me. Husband bought it as a gift. Great from grilled cheese and burgers, but not much else, imo.
I have had the most terrible luck trying to clean the inside edges of the "grill marks." I've tried it all, but it stays there and looks gross, since it's old food/grease that won't come off. Not for me:(

I bought this pan about 3 years ago. It hangs on a side of my cabinets where I can reach it easily. Today, it looks as new as the day I bought it. Cleans up so easily! Just a little soapy water and a soft dishrag or plastic pad... and it's looking new again! I cook on a gas stove and the handle of this pan does require me to use a potholder of some sort. It's not exactly hot... more, just uncomfortably warm. Since the description says handle stays cool... I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. All in all, this pan is a workhorse, it doesn't hold odors and it's one of the best kitchen pans I've ever purchased. I love the ability to grill indoors on my stove without having to give it any thought! I can easily grill four steaks on this pan. Or 2 large steaks. Think I'll have a nice grilled steak tonight!
